Circa early 16th century AD A silver openwork brooch formed as a heart with central void, two doves supporting a looped knot above; the heart with punched-point detailing and maker's mark below; three loops to the lower edge for attachment of chains; the tongue a flat D-section bar coiled around the frame. Silver, 3.22 grams, 40 mm (1 1/2") Private collection, Nottinghamshire, UK; acquired late 1980's-early 1990's; found Lincoln, UK, 1980.
