Circa 19th-20th century AD A cast bronze statue from the Constantinian school of a youthful Hercules shown standing, dressed in a short mantle, his weight on his right leg; the hair and facial features large and regular, the left arm raised and hand in gripping attitude; the mantle belted at the waist leaving the lower body exposed; draped over the left arm a lionskin; the right arm lost; two attachment pegs beneath the feet. Bronze, 1.6 kg, 22cm (8 1/2") From an important West Country collection. [No Reserve]
