Jacobean, circa 17th century AD A pair of carved oak figurines representing heraldic lions on scrolled rectangular bases; each lion shown crouching upright, supporting a heraldic shield with scrolled outline; the mane and facial detail finely carved, with open mouth and bared teeth. Wood, 185 grams, 12 cm (4 3/4") Property of a Sussex Gentleman; acquired before 1990. [2]
