Circa 2nd century BC-1st century AD A hand-forged iron sword of La Tène III type; the blade long and parallel-sided, with median rib and rounded tip; the shoulder scrolled to accommodate a u-shaped metal fitting for the lower guard; the tang long and rectangular-section; traces of the organic scabbard or scabbard-lining adhering. Iron, 660 grams, 97 cm (38") From an important West Country collection.
