Persian Bronze Sword Hilt

Circa 19th century or later A hollow cast bronze sword hilt comprising drooping quillons with animal-head ornament flanking tongue-shaped bolsters to the front and rear faces of the blade, a biconical grip, hemispherical pommel with disc plate above, central boss and pierced knop; the bolsters, quillons and grip decorated with arcading and arabesque detail, pommel with radial lines and plate with radial curves. Bronze, 325 grams, 20 cm (8") Property of a London Gentleman; acquired before 1975.
