Indian Bronze Figural Shield

Circa 19th century or later A bronze convex shield with decorated surface comprising: four openwork bosses surrounding a human mask with decorated crown and radiating flames within a ropework border; a band of animal scenes within a ropework border including two elephants roped to a stone, fighting; a tiger attacking a jackal, chased by an elephant; a tiger attacking a buffalo; to the reverse, four attachment loops for securing straps. Bronze, 485 grams, 29 cm (11 1/2") Property of a London Gentleman; acquired before 1975.
