An undated cast openwork copper incense burner comprising: a hollow cylindrical body with two decorative bands, the lower a procession of animals against an openwork background, the upper a band of calligraphic text against an arabesque field; the lid an openwork dome with radiating struts and lattice, with a band of calligraphic text against an arabesque field, surmounted by a stylised bird's head with feather detailing, ring-and-dot eyes and straight spiked beak. Copper, 625 grams, 19 cm (7 1/2") Property of a London collector, acquired early 1960's. [No Reserve]
