An undated twice life-size terracotta head representing the Bodhisattva, cleanshaven with wavy hair and long moustache, earrings and diadem; the features carefully modelled with aquiline nose and traces of pigment to the lips and pupils; the diadem with palmettes at the temples and central figure on the brow depicting a cross-legged Buddha figure; possibly Peshwari worksmanship; supplied with custom-made display stand. Ceramic, 16.4 kg, 56 cm including stand (22") Acquired on the London art market in the 1960's. Bodhisattva is the name used for Prince Siddhartha on the path to becoming Gautama Buddha.
