Circa 4000-1200 BP A mixed group of chert tools comprising: a large Clovis-type knife or spearhead; a large dark flint Adana-type spearhead; a Clovis-type flint knife; all with old collector labels. Stone, 280 grams, 82-180 mm (3-7") Ex US museum de-acquisitions; ex B Heard collection, USA. 'Clovis points' are thin, fluted projectile points created using bifacial percussion flaking, sometimes pressure-flaked along the outer edges. They are characterized by concave longitudinal shallow grooves called flutes on both faces. [3]
