Circa 19th-early 20th century AD A well-made dagger and leather sheath with fittings; the dagger with curved two-edged steel blade, short ricasso to the lower edge and longer on the back; the bronze quillon s-curved with lion-head terminals, the upper with pierced mouth to accept a bronze chain connected to the pommel cap; the grip bone, octagonal in section with helical bronze ropework inlay; the pommel cap formed as an eagle's head, the beak pierced to accept the chain; the finial a balustered knop with transverse piercing; maker's mark to the ricasso; the sheath in tooled maroon leather with triangular bronze chape and ball finial, the bronze frog with scallopped lower edge, engraved scrolls and D-shaped clip to the outer face. 310 grams, 35 cm (13 3/4") [No Reserve]
