Islamic Bronze Calligraphic Bowl

A decorative Seljuk reproduction sheet-bronze bowl with flat base and rolled rim; the rim with 12th century style incised calligraphic panels and arabesque discs; the upper inner surface with quatrefoil panels bearing quadruped motifs, arabesque bands above and below and rosettes between; the central panel a winged quadruped with a human mask on a panel of scrolls with guilloche bands surrounding and calligraphic text. Bronze, 2.0 kg, 44 cm diameter (17 1/4") UK art and antiquities market, acquired prior to 1990.

Very fine condition.
