Post Medieval Bronze Charles I Ship's Sail-Maker's Palm

A thick cast bronze discoid palm guard, dished with eccentric circular recess; inscribed around the edge in seriffed capitals 'OBAY GOD AND KYNG CHARLES', with a central cross potent and in the lower left quadrant the date '1647', possibly not contemporary. Bronze, 110 grams, 56 mm (2 1/4") From an important West Country collection.

Very fine condition.
