After Gerrit Dou, "The Scribe Master" oil painting on wood panel. Panel: 15.5"H x 12.75"W; Frame: 22"H x 18.5"W. Unsigned. Original of painting in collection of Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden, Germany. Gerrit Dou (Dutch, 1613-1675) was known for his genre paintings, particularly of figures through an open window. Matching etching by Albert H. Payne (British 1812-1902) accompanies this lot. Plate: 7"H x 5.5"W; Frame: 14.75"H x 13.25"W. Numbered lower left, 249 of 500 in pencil within plate. This lot also includes book published 1913 on the artist Gerard Dou and illustrations of his paintings. Circa - Late 18th C.
