19th century, by Ames Mfc. Co., inscribed to Capt. Richard French by the La Fayette Fusiliers 12th Regiment, 4th Brigade, New York, June 21, 1850. Figural grip depicting liberty, and allover military, acanthus and scroll decoration, along with matching scabbard. The blade etched with similar decoration. Blade length 32 1/4 inches. Overall length 40 inches.
