Oscar Rodriguez: Oscar Pot - Size: 13" x 9" - This large, thin-walled pot by Oscar Rodriguez is an example of his very fine work. Like most potters in Mata Ortiz, Oscar uses a brush made of human hair to paint his superb designs. This piece has three-part symmetry. Oscar Rodriguez is the youngest son in the talented Rodriguez family. His oldest brother, Armando, uses Mimbres designs in his pottery. Their well-known brother, Manolo, does occassional demonstrations in the United States. Their sister, Tere, lives in Nuevo Casas Grandes and makes excellent monos (traditional Paquime human effigy figures). Another sister, Norma Rodriguez, is married to the famous potter, Leonel Lopez. And Oscar's brother, Ruben Rodriguez, makes some of the finest black-on-black pottery in the village. Oscar lives next door to his brother, Manolo, in Barrio Americano in Mata Ortiz.
