Largely husband-wife couples. Includes “Admiral Dewey,” and “Hearst,” and "MacLean." Approx. [50] pages of handwriting + 4 loose leaves placed Thick 4to, most of volume blank. Contemp green cloth, with title gilt-stamped on front cover. Purchased at the auction of the Evelyn Walsh McLean collection. McLean (1886-1947) was the daughter of an immigrant miner who became a millionaire. She bought the Hope Diamond for $180,000 in 1911. McLean was a close friend of first lady Florence Harding and Alice Roosevelt Longworth (daughter of Theodore Roosevelt).
Externally stained, front hinge broken through, loose. A few leaves with stain in margin near upper corner.
