American Late Classical Mahogany Four-Post Bedstead, second quarter 19th century, the turned and carved posts with acanthus leaf details and having a paneled headboard fitted with a tall acanthus-carved crest, h. 86", outside w. 63", outside l. 82".
Old repairs. There are scattered chips around the mortises where the headboard goes into the posts. The top 8" turnings on the head posts have been made removable for some reason. Some of the embedded bolts in the rails are loose are require finesse to bolt together. Lacking casters and bolt covers. The finish appears to be original but dry and could use some polishing.
