Glazed stoneware sculpture, depicting Kuan Ti seated on throne covered with tiger skin. In one hand, the figure holds an open tablet, with the other he strokes his beard. Upon his head is a royal headdress. Features naturalistic depiction of an elaborately embroidered robe with dragon motif and facial expression. Purchase directly by Howard Hand from Madame Chiang Kai-Shek (Soong Mei-ling) in the 1970's. 14" W x 12.5" D x 27.5" H. Minor loss to one ear and hairline crack on bottom, otherwise in very good antique condition.
