A fine Moche IV feline head from Peru, c. AD 450 - 550, boldly painted to create a fearsome visage on the carefully molded chamber. The circular designs represent gold ornaments worn by members of the elite or deities. H: 6" (15.2 cm). A rather large example with strong paint and heavy mineral deposits. Ex Israel Pachenko collection, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
