A PAIR OF GEORGE IV SILVER TROPHY EWERS, London, 1828-1829, maker's mark of Charles Fox II. The baluster-form ewers with rocaille shell-form bases rising to acanthus leaves and ribbon-tied vine branches, centered by engraved inscriptions of presentation, the first reading 'Deptford Coursing Cup, Won by Mr. Lawrence's Black Bitch, Louisa, Dec.r 14th 1829'; the second reading 'Amesburg Coursing Cup, Won Together with the Guineas, by Mr. Lawrence's black Bitch Lisette & Mr. Lawrence's black Dog Lignum, Nov.r 5 1829'. Each with opposing scroll handles - 85 oz. 2 dwt.; 15 in. high.
