A CONTINENTAL SILVERED METAL EMPIRE-STYLE STANDISH, probably French, last quarter of the 19th century. Featuring two inkwells bordered by acanthus leaf tips flanking a medallion of a triumphant Nike, above a pen well decorated with bell flowers surrounding a profile of Minerva, the inkwell gallery headed by an urn with flame and fasces, above pierce-work terminating in scrolls and shells - 4 in. x 12 1/2 x 8 in.
