54: Hermes "Crocodylus Porosus" 1930s Hand Bag
This bags style has been confirmed as No. 366. This bespoke styled piece is one of three that are known of, as this has been confirmed by Hermes Senior Archivist Marc Stoltz as they have two varying styles in their Hermes Museum in Paris,but these are in different leather and do not have the matching powder pouch & leather backed mirror. It has also been confirmed as being produced pre world war too hence the style of the drop handles The interior top half of the bag has the first original signature stamp "Hermes Paris 24 Fg St HONORE" which also confirms the period of manufacture . includes the rare exquisite soft leather backed mirror and cosmetic compact powder pouch made on commission by hermes which are in excellent condition It really is a thing of beauty which encapsulates the history and quality of the brand in every piece of its detailing Its hard not to admire as the rare crocodile skin as the origin species being confirmed as "CROCODYLUS POROSUS" typified by the visible specs found within the scales(as shown in the photos). it is typical of the skins that were used pre regulations and along with the design is just simply stunning to look at.The rich texture and deep colour just doesnt compare to the textures of thier modern bags. It measures approx 8.75 inches long and stands 7 inches high. The handles stand taller though. There are 5 internal pockets ,one with stud closing and 4 open
There are no cracks or splits or discolourations or stains to report. The hardware is in sound condition and is fully original to the piece.The interior is also in excellent condition.
