Richard Dix (1893-1949) Actor. Dix achieved popularity in both silent and sound film. His standard on-screen image was that of the rugged and stalwart hero. He starred as empire-building Yancey Cravat in RKO's only Oscar-winning film, Cimarron in 1931. This film, for which Dix was himself Oscar-nominated, would remain the high water mark of his talkie career. 8 ½” x 11” typed letter signed, personal stationery, March 3, 1927, to Harriett Hutchinson.
