These are four post Civil War era military coat buttons from the state of Iowa. They feature the state seal, and motto "Our Liberties We Prize, and Our Rights We will Maintain." Three are gilt, and one is brass, and all have original coat backings. They are marked on back from these makers: "SCOVILLE MFG. CO. WATERBURY", "PETTIBONE MFG. CO., CINCINNATI," and "M.C. LILLEY & CO., COLUMBUS, O." These buttons measure approximately 5/8 to 7/8 inches in diameter. They are in very good to excellent condition.
