RARE PLATINUM NUGGET
Konder Massif, Far Eastern Siberia, Russia
More precious than gold, natural platinum nuggets are extremely rare and hard to obtain. The reason for this is twofold: only two locations in the world produce platinum in any significant quantity (China and Russia); and because most of the natural nuggets are small in size, they are often overlooked by the automated machines that carry out the mining. This, however, is a massive example, of lovely silver-gray color and smooth patination, characterfully speckled with pits of chromite/magnetite, measuring 41 x 22 x 25 mm and weighing approximately 7.38 troy ounces (229.8g).
