Hornbills are beautiful birds that are characterized by their long, downward curving beak which sometimes has a casque on the top, as can be seen with this specimen here. They are also the only bird to have their first two neck vertebrae fused together, probably to allow them to hold their large beak up more efficiently. The specimen exhibited here measures 19 inches in length.
