A distinctive egg from the abundant fossil beds of Central Asia, this was laid over 65 million years ago by one of the numerous, bird-like oviraptorids that inhabited the area in the late Cretaceous. Exhibiting good shell coverage, virtually complete on the upper side, it boasts the fine, characterful texture of fish skin, and a warm dark gray patination, and measures 7 inches long.
