One can draw parallels with any number of WWI-period charity drive posters, many produced by major Russian artists. True to the time, the tenor of Deni's poster is a bit coarser than that of its pre-Revolutionary predecessors. The deliberate profusion of exclamation marks makes the caption to read more like an order than an appeal.
