Description
Kto upravlyayet nashey stranoy - [Who Runs Our Country?], a poster by an anonymous artist. Published by Molodaya Gvardiya, Moscow, c. 1926-1927, 70 x 54 cm.
This poster was intended for distribution among the Komsomol organizations in rural districts. It promotes Lenin's thesis that Soviet Power is the most democratic form of Government; Lenin's quote is firmly placed in the center of design, followed by statistical data on the social background of the deputies elected for the XIIth Congress of the Supreme Soviet. This suggests that the poster was produced before the XIIIth Congress (April 1927). The use of the “VLKSM” abbreviation, introduced in 1926, can be used to further narrow the range for the poster's publication date.
