A beautiful vermeil silver cane with matte and bright gold finish. The small tau handle is 1 2/3" high, and 3" long. It is decorated at each end with bright gold corkscrew shells. Festoons of draping vines dress the central matte finish of the tau. The base of the handle, finished in bright gold on a matte background, features a ring of flowers and there is a tiny hallmark, possibly French. The shaft is ebony with a 7/8" replaced brass ferrule. The overall length is 36 2/3" and the condition is very good. It is ca 1900, and it is a very pretty example. Estimate: $800-$1200.
