A fine English ivory and malacca cane. The elephant ivory knob handle is 2 1/8" high and 1 1/4" in diameter. It has a carved raised ring at its center, a feature copied from seventeenth century design. There is a 1/3" plain silver collar that is London hallmarked for 1882 on a malacca shaft with round silver eyelets. An old 1" replaced brass ferrule completes the piece. The overall length is 34" and the condition is very good. It is a nice example using design features of earlier English ivory, silver and malacca sticks. Estimate: $500-$700.
