A very interesting silver Philippine cane with coins. The large silver handle is 2 2/3" high and 1 1/2" in diameter. The top is inscribed: "Apr. 23, 99, J. Bleier, Manila P.I.". The sides are decoratively engraved and inlaid with several silver coins from the USA, Russia, England, Japan, China, etc., with some showing dates in the 1890's. The thick shaft is ebony, carved with triangles and leaves. A 1 1/2" burnished brass ferrule completes the piece. The overall length is 35 1/2" and the condition is excellent. It was made in the Philippines during the Spanish/American War when the USA annexed the Islands. It is a high quality piece with a nice historical touch. Estimate: $600-$800.
