A very nice carved wood hound with silver accents

Item Details

Description

A very nice carved wood hound with silver accents. The dark hardwood "L" handle is 2" high and 4" to the side. It depicts a skillfully detailed hound dog with brown glass eyes that has ears and eyebrows highlighted with smooth silver. The shaft is varnished, natural ash with a 3/4" decorative "Sterling" band below the handle. The piece ends with a 1" bi-metal ferrule. The overall length is 36 1/4" and the condition is very good with some loss of bark just above the ferrule. It is American, ca 1900, and it is a very fine example of the type. Estimate: $900-$1300.
