A great ivory nautical cane on coconut wood. Made of a single piece of tooth, the whale ivory knob handle is 2 1/2" high and 1 1/3" across the top. Inlaid on the top is a 1/3" round Lady Liberty silver dime dated 1845. The handle is turned in lines and rings with red sealing wax highlights. There is a 1/3" black horn collar on a coconut wood shaft that ends with a 2" ivory ferrule. The overall length is 36" and the condition is very good. It is American and probably sailor made. It is a very fine example of the type. Estimate: $1000-$1500.
