A great Toledo damascene cane on partridgewood. The cylindrical steel handle is 3 3/4" high and 7/8" across the top. It is gold-decorated in the distinctive Toledo flying dragons, one on the top and two on the sides. They are featured among gold flowers, vines, and geometric designs on a black background, in the damascene manner. The shaft is stepped partridgewood with a 7/8" brass and iron ferrule. The overall length is 33 1/3" and the condition is very good with some surface slivers of wood missing on the shaft that are shallow, and do not affect its integrity. It is perhaps English, made with an imported handle, ca 1900. It is a very good example of the kind. Estimate: $1000-$1500.
