Safety Last. 1928
Artist: ANONYMOUS Size: 28 x 39 3/8 in./71.2 x 100 cm Released to American audiences in 1923, Safety Last is a silent comedic film starring Harold Lloyd. It would ultimately make its way into a Russian release in 1928, the year of this poster, under the altered name best translated as Seventh Heaven. As with most Soviet film posters of the era, the image is a composite of portions of the film, most notably the famous scene in which Lloyd dangles from a clockface off of a skyscraper. It remains today one of the most recognizable images of the silent era.
