Italian Fireplace Surround & Gilt Over-Mantel
antique with marble shelf, figured tile pilasters of artisans and frieze in blue and ivory with gilt moldings; over-mantel of carved wood finished in blue and gold with Rococo style painting on canvas of seven cupids; hand-forged iron Chinqua Penn floral decorated fireplace doors and marble fireplace hearth including a pair of classical 19th century style French andirons with pine cone finials. The Penns purchased the mantel in Rome on their trip to Europe in 1925.

The marble shelf has an early corner repair. The hearth is cracked and in poor condition. The painting has some loss of paint and ground. No signature found on painting. The surround has minor chips.
