A SILVER SHMIRAH KIDDUSH BEAKER. Safed and Poland, mid -19th century. The base of the cup is a Turkish silver coin that was obviously obtained from a Rabbi or Kabbalist living in Safed or another part of the Holy Land during the second half of the 19th century. The beaker shape cup is decorated with a detailed engraving of the Decalogue, a mythological unicorn, a lion and a center cartouche, which is engraved in Hebrew: “THIS IS THE CUP THAT WAS MADE BY RABBI ZEV FROM HOLY COIN(S)”. 2.7” tall.
