Rare 58" Gormully and Jeffery "American Challenge" highwheel bicycle with 18" rear wheel. New paint, tires and seat leather. Wheels run true, solid frame set. All of the G & J bikes are called " American" according to the 1888 catalog. The American Safety, the American Challenge, the American Ideal and so forth. The name plate is on the bike and the last patent date is clearly read at 1888. VG cond.
