Description

Manufactured in 1907. Blade front, adjustable Charles Daniels rear sight and short range tang mounted peep sight. Standard two-line address/patent dates on the top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight, nickel steel marking on the left rear and "32W.S." on the top at the breech. The Winchester oval proof is marked on the top barrel flat and top of the receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1894/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK" and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. 1/2 magazine tube, blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a replacement checkered walnut forearm with steel end cap and pistol grip stock with a checkered shotgun buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number as a 32 Winchester Special caliber, 1/2 octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, 1/2 magazine, shotgun buttplate, takedown, that it was received in the warehouse on August 20, 1907 and shipped the next day.

Condition

Refinished with a smooth artificial brown and gray patina overall. The replaced custom checkered wood is very good overall with a small chip on the left wrist at the receiver, several minor age cracks on the left side of the stock and sharp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is fine.
