Jerimiah Wadsworth (1743-1804) Sea captain, merchant, statesman. Wadsworth served as Deputy Commissary General of Purchases in 1777 during the Revolutionary War. When Congress reorganized the supply system, he became Commissary. Later he was elected a member of the Continental Congress, which ratified the United States Constitution in 1788. He served three terms in the United States House of Representatives and was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives. 6” x 2 ¼” check, written and signed, Bank of the United States, April 26, 1794.
