Description
1957 New York Yankees Scouting Report Prepared for Milwaukee Braves. One of the most fascinating volumes of baseball text we've ever encountered, this hardbound report is comprised of hundreds of pages of detailed information on each and every Yankees players' offensive and defensive strengths and weaknesses, including pitch-by-pitch coverage of the last six weeks of the Yankee season as the impending Fall Classic showdown proved increasingly imminent. Some notes on Mantle offensively: "Hitting right...low with everything. Pitch should be inside low and outside low, breaking stuff and change up. The fast ball his dish.." And defensively: "Great arm and accurate." Ballpark text details wind, shadows of Yankee Stadium. Report was delivered to Braves manager Fred Haney by scout Wid C. Matthews, who signs the third page to indicate the veracity of his report. Condition is absolutely perfect, with light toning to the edge of the pages all that indicates the half century elapsed since this plan's successful implementation.
