1918 Jerry Travers American Red Cross Prize Medal. Large bronze medal with Red Cross awarded to Jerry Travers in 1918 by the American Red Cross. The front of the medal reads "American Red Cross Prize Medal" along with "Awarded in Recognition of Aid to the Cause of Humanity." The back is circumscribed with the motto, "Supremacy Generosity Patriotism" and the personalized engraving reads, "To J.G. Travers in Recognition of Service in Golf Matches Under Auspices of Western Golf Association 1918." Travers, along with other golf stars, participated in many benefit matches during World War I in order to raise money for the war effort. Travers played with and against the likes of Bobby Jones, Chick Evans, Max Marston, Alexa Stirling, etc. Measures 2" diameter. A great golf collectible.
