Description
1986 Mike Scott No-Hitter & Western Division Clinching Game Used Baseball. Talk about ending the season with an exclamation point! Presented is an Official National League (Feeney) baseball utilized in Mike Scott's greatest masterpiece, a two to nothing no-hit performance to vanquish the San Francisco Giants and punch the Houston Astros' ticket to the postseason. This last dose of magic secured Scott's eventual 1986 National League Cy Young Award presentation.
The ball is colorfully notated on the side panel, "9-25-86, 1st Career No Hitter, Giants - 0, Astros - 2, Win made Houston N.L. West Champs." Scott's signature rates 7/10 on the sweet spot, with battery-mate Alan Ashby signing a side panel in 10/10 blue ink with the notation "I caught this historic game." When the Astros moved to Enron Field in 1999, this event was voted as one of the top five in Astrodome history. Letter of provenance from Astros trainer Jim "Doc" Ewell. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autographs). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autographs).
