Description
2006 World Baseball Classic Japan Championship Ring with Sadaharu Oh Single Signed Baseball. Intriguing lot from this international tournament for our National Pastime is anchored by a ring presented to an American clubhouse worker for the Japanese side, which took the Championship by defeating runner-up Cuba in the final round. Red Sox ace Daisuke Matsuzaka earned MVP honors. The ring announces "World Baseball Classic, 2006 World Champions" on the face, which is adorned with crossed bats and ball imagery and studded with faux diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Left shank reads "Japan Tm. Staff, with four more faux diamonds. Right shank: "WBC 1st Champions, March 20, 2006, Petco Park," with faux rubies. Interior band is stamped "2006 World Baseball Classic, Japan National Team" and "Silver," which we take to mean that the ring is gold-toned silver. Band measures to a size 11.5. Ring is housed in original hinged leather display case. Finally we have a very rare single signed baseball from Japan manager and legendary home run slugger Sadaharu Oh, one of just a few known signed on an Official ball from the 2006 World Baseball Classic. NRMT. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
