Description

1965-68 Frank Robinson Game Used Bat. Though Robinson's residence at Cooperstown and the 500 Home Run Clubhouse is enough to assure immortality, he joins another Robinson in racial pioneering as the first African-American to take the managerial reins of a Major League club. The potential production range of this playing-days bat spans his transition from the Reds to the Orioles, which allowed him to become the only player to win an MVP Award for each League. The signature model Hillerich & Bradsby R161 exhibits excellent use, with ball and stitch marks coating the barrel. Blue and green bat racks marks streak the surface, and the back barrel holds an ink inscription reading "To Bob, Frank," though this is printed and cannot therefore be definitively attributed to Robinson, though we have no reason to believe it isn't. Robinson's jersey number "20" and bat's weight in ounces ("34") appear in vintage marker on the knob. Repaired handle crack with small impression in handle from clamp utilized in procedure. Graded GU 8. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.
