Circa 1957 Monty Stickles Game Worn, Signed Notre Dame Fighting Irish Jersey and Pants. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish player, who put this jersey and pair of pants to use was as multi-talented as they come. Catching passes, blocking and kicking field goals, the great Monty Stickles could do it all. A highly respected captain at the University of Notre Dame, Stickles went on to play tight end for the San Francisco 49ers and one season with the Saints. During the later part of his career, Stickles eventually became a color commentator with the Oakland Raiders and Cal Bears. Presented here is his late-1950's Notre Dame green cotton jersey, which displays a sewn-on No. 80 on the front and back, while the proper "MacGregor [size] 44" is in the interior seam. Jersey shows nice use, while numerous small holes and team repairs are scattered throughout. The pants are the classic Irish style, with built-in padding intact and the proper "House of Harter" and "Rawlings [size] 38" tags in the interior. Pants have been signed by Stickles in bold black felt-tip ink, while the jersey is signed on both sides in the same quality ink. Overall, a rare complete uniform from the great South Bend fan favorite. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
