A Rare American Rococo Carved and Laminated Rosewood Armchair, c. 1850-60, attributed to John Henry Belter, New York, in the pattern most often referred to as "Henry Clay", C scrolled back with floral crest, serpentine seat rail and cabriole legs with floral carving Note: A chair attributed to Belter from the Manney collection nearly identical to that seen here is illustrated in Schwartz, Stanek and True. The Furniture of John Henry Belter and the Rococo Revival, p. 45, fig. 10.
