A GLORIOUS PAIR OF ITALIAN ROCOCO STYLE GILT CONSOLES
Mid-19th Century
The shaped white carrara marble tops with stepped moulded edges are supported by exuberantly pierce carved, water gilded aprons of C-scrolls and floral garlands flanking large shield forms comprised of masterfully carved C-scrolls and punctuated by floral festoons. The aprons are supported by elaborately carved cabriole legs featuring deep acanthus scrolls at knees above reversing C-scrolls, the upper ones with pierced reserves and the lower ones with pierced acanthus scrolls. All stabilized by X-form undulating stretchers and large, swirling shells and scrolls; all raised on scroll feet.
Condition: Frames stable. Areas of re-gilding. Minor chips to gilding.
