AN IMPRESSIVE BRONZE DORÉ MOUNTED ROUGE MARBLE CENTERPIECE
Continental, Early 20th Century
The centerpiece consisting of a shallow marble basin resting on a tall bell-shaped marble foot while supporting in the middle a figure of Victory on a lion-headed and urn pedestal; Victory depicted holding a laurel wreath in one hand and a rose in the other, while two emaciated griffins cling to the sides as handles and eye her; the basin sides further mounted with four female heads, the bell base with egg cartouches and animal demon masks; all set on four rectangular feet.
Condition: Some wear to gilded surfaces causing a coppery discoloration. Otherwise very good.
24 ¼ x 20 x 11 inches (61.5 x 50.7 x 27.9 cm).
